JUSTIN M. JACOBSON is an entertainment, sports, esports and media attorney in New York City. An Associate with The Jacobson Firm, P.C., Justin is an Associate Member of National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). He serves as litigation counsel for major entertainment companies; NFL and MLB athletes; esports professional gamers, content creators and streamers, owners, teams, and organizations; musicians, including producers, vocalists and songwriters; fashion and jewelry designers; various fine and creative artists; and, more.
Admitted to the New York State Bar in 2012, a member of the American Bar Association, Justin is also a member of the Bar of the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2017 and 2016, Justin is a legal contributor to TuneCore, HypeBot, The Journal of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. and the Touro Law Review. Justin has served as an Instructor of Music Business at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City, guest speaker at Cardozo Law School, Bergen County Community College and ICON Collective in Los Angeles, California. Justin sits on the Board of Directors and oversees charitable event production for Super Bowl XXXI champion and Green Bay Packer, Gary Brown’s “The Big Gary Brown 68 Foundation.” Justin also supported fundraising efforts for New York Giant Rashad Jennings’ “The Rashad Jennings Foundation.” In 2013, Justin co-founded Label 55, Ltd., a marketing and consulting agency for lifestyle brands and musicians.
Earning his law degree from Touro Law Center in New York in 2011, Justin was on the Touro Law Review and served twice as President of the Touro Arts, Entertainment, and Sports Law Society. Justin earned his B.A. in Sociology from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Justin interned in the Business and Legal Affairs Department of Tommy Boy Entertainment, the Legal and Membership departments of ASCAP and made history as the first college intern at the U.S. Copyright Office in Washington, D.C. He also worked at MTV in the Digital Music and Website Development Department – dealing extensively with digital music video distribution – and the marketing department at RAS records (Reggae label subsidiary of Sanctuary Records).
